Article 1. Composition of teams
Petanque is a sport in which:
3 players play against 3 players (triplets).
The following options are also possible:
2 players vs 2 players (doublets).
1 player vs 1 player (Tet-A-Tet)
In triplets, each player uses 2 balls. Doubles and Tet-a-Tet - 3 balls each. Other options are not allowed.
Article 2. Characteristics of allowed balls
Petanque is played by FIPJP-approved bullets with the following characteristics:
Made of metal.
Have a diameter of 7.05 cm (minimum) to 8 cm (maximum).
They weigh from 650 grams (minimum) to 800 grams (maximum).
The make of the manufacturer and the weight of the ball must be engraved and visible at all times. Juniors (up to 11 years old) are allowed to use bullets weighing 600g and 65mm in diameter, provided they are manufactured by a licensed manufacturer.
Balls should not be filled with sand or lead. The balls cannot be altered in any way after they have been manufactured and approved by the manufacturer. It is strictly forbidden to harden the balls in order to change the hardness.
However, the ball, according to the manufacturer's specification, the name of the player, as well as various logos, initials and acronyms is allowed.
Article 2a. Punishment for non-standard bullets
A player who violates condition (4) is immediately disqualified with the entire team.
If the ball is not a forgery but is defective or worn, has not been officially tested or does not meet the requirements of (1), (2) or (3), the player must replace it. It is allowed to replace the whole set.
All claims by the teams concerning these three points must be submitted before the start of the game. Therefore, it is in the interest of the players to make sure that their balls and rival balls meet the above requirements.
Claims regarding clause (4) may be made at any time during the game, but in between games. If a claim against an opponent's balls is made after the third game or later and is unsubstantiated, 3 points are added to the opponent's (team or player) account.
The judges or jury may at any time require the examination of the balls of any player / players.
