The impetus for the appearance of kickboxing in Rivne was hand-to-hand combat. Back in 1985, Rostislav Saenko, a young lieutenant of the internal affairs bodies, began teaching in the city. Karate in the Soviet Union, at that time, was still under strict prohibition, and therefore the young coach, who took the first steps in hand-to-hand combat, often had to be explained to the police - this kind of martial arts does not apply to the cohort of oriental styles of martial art. The annoying suspicions disappeared when Rostislav Saenko, as an employee of the internal affairs agencies, received permission to teach hand-to-hand fighting in the gymnasium of the Dynamo society, near the regional police department.
