The club of mixed martial arts "Nikolaev" (MMA CLUB NIKOLAEV) was created in 2010 for the development and popularization of mixed martial arts MMA in Nikolaev and Nikolaev region.
MMA (mixed martial arts) is a type of martial arts that combines various techniques of percussion disciplines (boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, karate, wushu sanda, etc.) and wrestling directions (judo, sambo, jiu-jitsu, grappling, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, etc.). Mixed martial arts MMA in April 2013 recognized in Ukraine as an official sport.
The directions developed in the club are MMA, grappling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing and muay-thai.
MMA CLUB NIKOLAEV develops and popularizes MMA in the Nikolaev region and is the regional representative of the Federation of Mixed Martial Arts MMA of Ukraine.
For just a couple of years of its history, the club fighters won a number of victories in major national MMA tournaments, grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In March, the Championship of Ukraine 2013 in MMA was held, in which the team of the Nikolaev region took part, successfully winning three medals (gold, silver, bronze).
At the 2013 European Championships in mixed martial arts MMA (June 2013, Kiev) Stanislav Kut, a resident of Nikolayev, won a bronze medal.
In October 2013, in St. Petersburg, the first in the history of the official world championship on MMA, in the national team of Ukraine, the Nikolaev fighter Stanislav Kutin also performed.
President and Head Coach of MMA CLUB NIKOLAEV Oleg Shevchenko is one of the coaches of the national team of Ukraine in mixed martial arts MMA.
The team of the 2013-2014 team includes fighters of the club Stanislav Kutin, Maxim Masenko. Nikolay Sinyakov, Oleg Obrevko and Andrey Mavrodiev.
The team takes part in the OPLOT professional fighting championship, and our Oleg Obrevko is the vice-champion of Ukraine in this version.
The MMA CLUB FIGHTER club championship is held regularly, in which beginner fighters from various teams of the club take part. The tournament is a launching pad for further growth of skill and increasing the level of the club’s fighters.
The club is actively developing the direction of grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Oleg Shevchenko, Vladislav Lyutov and Dmitry Demchik have the BJJ blue belt qualification.

BJJ's black belt (the first in Ukraine) is owned by Pavel Stolyar, currently living and practicing in Australia. Pavel comes to Nikolaev every year and conducts seminars and certification.
On the basis of MMA CLUB NIKOLAEV, an association of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu BLACK SEA TEAM was created, uniting fans of this type of martial arts in Nikolaev and southern Ukraine.
